Home based Super Eagles crash out of CHAN as they lose 0-1 to Guinea The home based Super Eagles of Nigeria this afternoon crashed out of the African Cup of Nations tournament for home based players after playing out a 0-1 loss to the Syli Nationale of Guinea. This was Sunday Oliseh's first major test as the Super Eagles coach. While Nigeria needed just a point to qualify through to the knockout stages of the tournament, Guinea needed the full three points and got a win over the Super Eagles.   Sunday Oliseh started Sunshine Stars attacker Tunde Adeniji in place of top scorer Chikatara but the team's lacklustre display in front of goal meant the technical crew had to rue that decision. To show how badly the Super Eagles fared against the Syli Nationale, it took over twenty minutes before the team could muster a shot. Guinea took the lead after Daouda Camara eased past Nigeria's defence to lay an assist for Ibrahim Sankhon who slotted into

Photos: Large oil bunkers depot discovered in Lagos An expanse of land hidden at Roberts Island, a village off Lagos waters near Atlas Cove, where oil bunkers perforate oil pipelines and steal oil products, was yesterday discovered and exposed by a team led by the Petroleum Minister, Ibe Kachiukwu. A search around the place showed equipment used by the oil bunkers to perforate oil pipelines and then store the products in the kegs pictured above. The kegs and the tools used for vandalization were all found buried in the ground. It appeared all dwellers in the community had a role in the vandalism as not one of them reported the matter to the police. Dr Kachikwu could not hide his disappointment as he spoke to newsmen after the discovery. “I must say that I was very disillusion to find this discovery but much as I was happy that it was found, it just took a lot of wind off my sail in the sense of what next and who knows how many more have not b

This Photo of a Potato Sold for over $1 Million According to the Independent , a European businessman purchased this photo of a potato for 1 million euros ($1,086,950). Of course, it's probably not the potato itself that made the photograph so pricey. It was taken by acclaimed photographer Kevin Abosch in 2010 and is one of three versions of the print in existence. Abosch says it's the most expensive photo he's ever sold, and most of his work typically goes for around $280,000. So if any photo of a potato is ever going to be worth $1 million, it seems this would be the one. Still, that's an absurd price to pay for a photo of a potato.

Scientists say Zika can be spread through sex As the devastating Zika virus rampages through the Caribbean and Latin America - and threatens to hit parts of the US such as Florida - more and more questions are being asked about how it can be transmitted. The virus has been linked to birth defects in thousands of Brazilian babies, born with heads smaller than normal and undeveloped brains. Symptoms include a rash, fever, conjunctivitis and headache and to date, 21 countries have been affected. At the moment, there is clear scientific evidence the virus is transmitted by the same type of mosquito that spreads other tropical diseases, such as dengue fever, chikungunya and yellow fever. But there are also fears the virus may be passed on through sex, following two reports in medical literature.   One states that Zika was found in the semen of a man from Tahiti, the other that the virus was passed from a husband to his wife after intercourse. But is there r

Photos: Gov. El-Rufai visits the scene of Kaduna market outbreak Kaduna State Governor, Malam Nasir el-Rufai earlier yesterday visited the scene of the inferno at the Station Market in Kaduna local government area of the state. The market was gutted by fire last night and three almajiris who sleep in the shops reportedly burnt beyond recognition.   The governor expressed his sympathy and affirms government's commitment towards rebuilding the razed market. "It is most unfortunate that we continue to have this incident. What is sad for me, is not just the loss of property in this case, but the fact that the fire fighting equipment could not get in and reduce the losses because of the way and manner the market itself was designed. We already have plans for this market; we have plans to build a modern neighborhood centre across the railway line and relocate them" Malam further assured that the leadership of the market and state

"I lost 26 pounds, and I have eaten bread every single day," she said in her testimonial clip. An hour after O sent her story into the Twitterverse, Weight Watchers shares climbed slightly over $2 a share, and since Winfrey owns roughly 6 million shares, the surge in share prices made the celeb $12 million just like that. Two BASE jumpers drown in Big Sur tragedy A BASE jumper who parachuted off a bridge overlooking the Pacific Ocean likely drowned, as did the man who heroically jumped in to try and save her, according to police. The two thrill-seekers have been missing in the Big Sur area since Saturday morning. Monterey County Sheriff's officials say a video from a helmet camera shows Mary Katherine 'Katie' Connell, of Ventura, descending nearly 300 feet and landing on Bixby Creek, which feeds into the Pacific. Shortly after the landing, three large waves overtake her and she vanishes from view, presumably having been dragged out to sea.  Sheriff Steve Bernal says her companion, identified as a BASE jumping instructor from Finland, then leaped off the bridge to help her, reported the station  KION .   While the male victim's name was being withheld by the authorities pending the notification of next of kin, it is believed that the ma

Beauty queen mum died after falling into road during an argument with another parent at school A mum and former beauty queen died after falling in front of a van outside her children's primary school during a row with another parent. Robyn McHale, 28, died six days after being airlifted to Royal London Hospital in a critical condition from outside Forres Primary School in Hoddesdon, Hertfordshire. An inquest into her death heard how just moments before the collision in February last year, she had been involved in a heated argument at the school gates. Ms McHale was heard shouting "you f****** grass" before running towards another mum, Tara Jarmin, with her arms flailing and starting a tussle. The inquest heard she had blamed the other mum after headteacher Sue Camp called the single mum-of-three into a meeting to discuss child car issues. Robyn, from Hoddesdon, was said to have become "upset and angry" before storming ou
