Nollywood and Politics!

Entertainment as we all know,is a craft that has no retirement policy.No wounder the star studded industry can burst of talented individuals,whose careers has ran into Tens of decades, and yet they are still as relevant as the days of there little and early beginning.


You can also find the young,the old,the kids,and individuals within different age brackets,who has sold there time,knowledge,energy and sweat into the game,and has never seen quieting as an Option.

During the Goodluck Jonathan led administration,the ever booming industry was credited to have contributed immensely to the countries Gross Domestic Product[G.D.P], which in the long run,had a tremendous impact in the counties economy,

No wounder the industry has not only turned to a Money Making Venture[M.M.V],to both the talented and un-talented alike,both has also brought fame/fortune to those who has been brave enough to stick to there craft.

But the question that has been running through the minds of many Nigerians is, If entertainment can bring one so much fame and fortune, then why run into Politics?

In 2015,popular Nollywood actor Desmond Elliot,contested and Won a sit in the Lagos state house of assembly under the ruling All Progressive Congress[A,P,C], The previous political year, Veteran actor Bob Manuel Odokwu,contested and also won himself a ticket to represent the good people of Idemilli North L.G.A,in Anambra state,a victory that took away mandate from his kingsman,popular musician Tony One Week ,who won the same seat in 20011.

Meanwhile,in the westan part of Nigeria,musician Abolore Akande,popularly known as 9ice,contested for a seat in oyo state house of assembly,but lost in the primaries,even thus he later landed himself a political appointment,same with Ace presenter and partner in progress with Kenny Ogungbe of [Prime time Africa],Dayo Adeneye[a,k,a D1],who is currently the Ogun state commissioner for Information and Strategy

The list of entertainers Cum Politicians goes on and on, from Jibola Dabo,Hilda Dokubo,Nkiru sylvanus,Onyeka Onwenu,Richard Mofe Damijo e.t.c[some of whom got themselves a political appointment,while other went for an elective position], and most Recently Hon.Chief Agility Onwurah.

Hon,Agility Onwurah,who is currently the chairman of Actors Guild of Nigeria[A.g.n,Abuja Chapter],and also doubles as the Chairman of all Chairmen[The chairman all the 36 state chapter Chairmen of the guild],most recently declared his intention,or would i rather say 'Ambition' to contest for the Seat of the Executive Governor of Anambra State,under a yet to be disclosed politicla party.

Anambra State,been the commercial Capital of West Africa,boasts of Men and Women of Timber and Calibre, Captains of Industry,Political War-lords,Young Money making machines[Y.m.m.m's]e.t.c.

Now the question dangling in the mind of so many Anamberians,who has long been hungry for a change in the current 'Political Godfatherism' in the state,and who also believes that its high time,a younger and fresh blood is given a shot at the  Goverment house Awka is...

What Value would the political ambitions of Hon.Agility Onwurah, add to the State's economy,Considering its rich C,v?

The answers to this Million dollar question ,might just be hidden in the Name 'AGILITY'..which means...

i-Intergrity and

But then,the better question should be.....What exactly are Entertainers Looking for in Sokoto[politics], that they are yet to find in there Shorkoto[entertainment]?...All the same,we wish them all the best!!
