Man stabs his lover to death after finding condoms in her bag in Edo state
A 38-year-old mother-of-three was stabbed to death by her lover after he found male condoms inside her handbag in Edo state.

The deceased, whose name was given as Gladys Okoh, was stabbed three times with a kitchen knife by her lover Osaremwinda Omobude Idumwonyi, 46, in her mother’s room at No. 13, Ehiyoboy Street, Off Aifuwa Street, Off Upper Sokponba road, Ikpoba-Okha LGA, Edo State.

Gladys, who had parted ways with her husband, passed the night at her lover's residence, which was close to her home, and the following morning, she returned home. Hours later, she was stabbed thrice in her stomach. She was rushed to the hospital where she eventually died.

It was gathered that her lover discovered condoms in her bag and it fueled his suspicion that she was cheating with other men. He is said to have left his residence after this discovery and went to her house. He allegedly passed by his lover's aged mother who was sitting by the door, then went into the room to attack his victim. Efforts by the aged mother to save her daughter as she screamed in pain during the violent attack failed.
It could not be ascertained whether the said condoms were found inside Gladys’ bag while she was with him in his room the previous night or during the day when he entered her aged mother’s rented apartment.
The suspect has been taken into custody at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID). According to Vanguard, police source at the State Criminal Investigation Department disclosed that the suspected killer told the police the deceased lover picked a kitchen knife to stab him when an argument ensued, so he overpowered and killed her while defending himself. However, the said knife was recovered from the suspect’s kitchen by police investigators when he was arrested and taken home for a search.
Confirming the gruesome murder, the Public Relations Officer for Edo State Police Command, DSP Chidi Nwabuzor, said investigations are ongoing.
