IDPs in Nasarawa go on rampage, throw stones at convoy of the state governor
Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs in Nasarawa state today threw stones at the convoy of the state governor, Umaru Tanko Al-Makura, during his assessment visit to some of the IDP camp in Obi local government area of the state.

The aggrieved IDPs were protesting the killing of their relations by suspected Fulani herdsmen. They alleged that the state government was doing little or nothing to protect them and stop the incessant killings. 32 persons were reportedly killed in a recent attack by armed bandits in the state.
Reacting to the incident, governor Al-Makura said the action of the protesting IDPs is “understandable in view of the psychological trauma they are passing through,”.. He vowed to ensure that peace returns to all the communities that have so far been attacked.
The riot policemen on the governor’s convoy were able to disperse the aggrieved IDPs through the use of tear gas, paving the way for his escape.
Speaking on the incident, the state commissioner of Police, Bello Ahmed, said the attack was politically motivated. Ahmed added that a number of arrests have been made.
The governor could not proceed to Keana IDP camp as arranged after the attack.
